OCTOBER 15th at 9 am to OCTOBER 22nd at 8 pm

Eligible electors may attend the Voter Help Centre located at the Municipal Office - 2340 Egremont Drive, Strathroy, Ontario to vote.  The Voter Help Centre will be open during the voting period on the following dates and times: 
- October 15, 2018 to October 19, 2018 between the hours of 9:00 a.m.
  and 4:00 p.m.
- October 20, 2018 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
- October 22, 2018 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.

CANDIDATE NOMINATIONS

Nominations for the 2018 Municipal & School Board Elections has closed (Friday, July 27, 2018 at 2:00 pm).  Below is the Certified List of Candidates.

CANDIDATES NIGHT is being hosted by the Optimist Club of Adelaide Metcalfe (Kerwood) on September 19, 2018 at 7pm at the Adelaide Metcalfe (Kerwood) Firehall.  Everyone is welcome.  Refreshments available.  Inquiries can be directed to Dwayne Ayris at 519-872-3232


ARE YOU ELIGIBLE TO VOTE?

To be eligible to vote in the Municipal Election, a person must be:

- a Canadian Citizen;
- at least 18 years of age on Voting Day;
- a resident in the Municipality, or the owner or tenant of property in the Municipality, or
  the spouse of such owner or tenant; and
- not prohibited by law from voting.

The Municipal Elections Act has been changed to remove the requirement for voters to show identification with their signature.

Acceptable documents for Voter Identification

PROHIBITED FROM VOTING (section 17(3) of the Municipal Elections Act):

- a person who is serving a sentence of imprisonment in a penal or correctional institution;
- a corporation;
- a person acting as executor or trustee or in any other representative capacity;
- a person who was convicted of the corrupt practice of bribery, if voting day in the current
  election is less   than five years after voting day in the election in respect of which he or
  she was convicted.

Starting September 6, 2018, if you are not on the Voters' List, eligible voters will have to attend the municipal office during business hours and fill our Form EL15 and provide proof of identification as listed above "Acceptable documents for Voter Identification".  The Township is not accepting additions to the voters' list over the phone, by email, or by fax without an acceptable document for voter identification.
